Kyrie Irving is paid pretty well to play basketball. His contract with the Brooklyn Nets calls for him to make $34.9 million in salary this season, and his celebrity status brings in another $15 million off the court from memorabilia, licensing and endorsement deals with brands like Nike and Panini.

This year, though, he’s made a conscious decision to give up a good chunk of that compensation.

“The financial consequences, I know I do not want to even do that, but it is reality that in order to be in New York City, in order to be on a team, I have to be vaccinated,” the 29-year-old All-Star point guard said Wednesday night on Instagram Live as he ended weeks of speculation about his Covid-19 vaccination status, which had been one of the sport’s worst-kept secrets. “I chose to be unvaccinated, and that was my choice, and I would ask you all to just respect that choice.”

The demand for online training h=and learning has increased dramatically as the restrictions relating to covid remained in place. Daily webinars - a diluted version of a more structured training session, eliminated the risk of delegates mixing necessarily and provided a much more relaxed approach to learning. In effect, it made perfect sense to reduce travel time and cost for both trainers and learners.

How Virtual Do We Want Our Future to Be?

The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed the lives and behavior of people across the globe. We have had to adapt to different ways of shopping, learning, socializing, working, celebrating, doing business, and much more.

This report, prepared and commissioned by Zoom, based on survey data and findings provided by Qualtrics Research, focuses on the impact that video communications have had on our day-to-day lives. We explored a variety of use cases for video communications and how they were used and perceived in ten different countries that spanned the globe. The survey results acknowledge the extraordinary challenges the world has faced and how video communications have helped maintain some semblance of normalcy and continuity of life’s important activities.

Although there’s been a high level of appreciation for this alternative to “in-person” living, over one year into this shift, we’re now wondering - what’s next? How much of this virtual life will we want to keep beyond the pandemic?

This report seeks to capture the current sentiment toward video communications from the perspective of everyday folks - employees, parents, students, teachers, consumers, and everyone in between.
