Adapting to Change

Change.jpegChange.jpeg

Almost six months since Lockdown, almost six months when the Coronavirus became a reality in the UK, almost six months since we were ALL required to adapt to change.

In a country of almost 70 million people not everyone has been impacted by the pandemic in the same way, some more so than others, yet regardless of how different the experience may or may not have been, we were connected and united by the exact same thing.
The virus forced us to change in a way that we had never needed to and there was no “game plan” or rule book because there was nothing that anyone could compare it to. The Second World War perhaps with its global impact, but how do you fight something you can’t see?

We will criticise, we will reflect, we will never forget but we will understand that as human beings we have it in us to change and adapt, even if we do not like or agree or feel comfortable with what we are being told, we did it for the sake of safety, for the sake of those we lost, for the sake of those who stood in the face of danger when the rest of us were at home and safe.

It takes 21 days to form or break a habit but most of us adapted pretty quickly to those new habits, may be driven by fear, who knows. But we adapted the way we work, interact with family and friends, socialise, shop, live; in the future we will adapt and further adopt what we changed - discard the elements we dislike and embrace the change that’s suited to our new way of life.
