Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka targeted by Racists
We live in age where Diversity should be embraced and celebrated, however, after the loss England faced in the England v Italy Euros final Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho werebtargetd by racists. This is all because they happened to miss penalties. The fact that these players have put their heart and soul into playing for England to get us to the final should be celebrated.
On Social Media Marcus Rashford has been on the receiving end of thousands of negative comments and his mural in Manchester was defaced and vandalised. Over the last 48 hours people have been visiting Rashford’s mural, placing hearts on the wall and writing messages of love and support. Although Rashford has faced these racist comments before, he continues to stand tall, and even wrote a heartfelt message on how sorry he was to have disappointed the country and. Yet, the fact still remains that just because Rashford, Saka and Sanchos are vilified because of the colour of their skin.
The Importance of Privacy
What is privacy?
Privacy is the right to protect one’s own information from others or personal history from others. After 12 months of living our lives online, privacy is more important than ever.
Every time we sign up for online services such as emails, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms, we are putting a snapshot of our lives and personal information online for the world to see. This is why it is essential to have the right to have your information kept securely when signing up to these platforms, otherwise this kind of security, everyone would have access to your life.
The Data Protection Act of 2018 establishes strict rules, data protection principles, that have to be followed. For example, that data is used fairly, lawfully and transparently. Furthermore, this enables people to have the rights to be:
· Informed how data is being used
· How personal data is being access
· How the data is erased
· How to stop or restrict the processing of your data etc.
Looking Back over the Last Decade
If you trawl the internet for facts, events, images, videos, blogs, vlogs that relate to the last decade, you will be astounded. In the blink of an eye we have witnessed changes to the way we live like never before. Technology, social and digital media play an even bigger part in the day to lives of billions of people. The Arab Spring caused by the actions of a young man showed us the way in which social and digital media platforms played a role in the way news unfolded across the World. An entire region was destabilised and the consequences were felt far far away.
Express Yourself- but be careful how you do it.
What a world we live in. Tech - Social Media Platforms - the ability to Stream TV programmes, Music and Films and download books - Online shopping at our finger tips available 24/7. We are more connected than ever before but is this a good thing? We can make ourselves “heard” in ways that we never dreamt of. Imagine Alexander Graham Bell inventor of the telephone, would be thinking about smart phones, text, IM, selfies, Twitter, Instagram, Emojis - the way we communicate is so very different to what Bell ever envisaged. Yet, whilst this could be considered as progress in leaps and bounds, has it gone too far? Is the way that we communicate across these different types of Medium a positive?
