Five Weeks on From the Start of the Tenant Fee Ban
Five weeks ago the Government introduced one of the most pivotal pieces of legislation to impact the Private Rented Sector in England - the Tenant Fees Act 2019 (TFA 2019).
31 Days to go until the Tenant Fees Act 2019 becomes Law
Anticipating change or the next episode of Game of Thrones can be quite traumatic. Since Phillip Hammond’s announcement in his Autumn Statement which feels light years away, there has been a lot of deliberation over what can and cannot be charged , the impact on the Private Rented Sector, the impact on not only SMEs but all agency types and most important of all the impact on tenants.
Tenant Fees Act Guidance Issued
On the 12th February 2019 the Ministry of Housing announced the date that the Tenant Fees Act 2019 would become law on the 1st June 2019. Whilst drafts of what the Act would include had been published, the guidance was highly anticipated in order for Landlords, Letting Agents, Property Managers and Tenants to be aware of exactly what this new piece of Legislation would include.
Stay Completely Compliant in Every Way
The interesting thing about Law is that you don’t actually realise how vast a topic it is until you start studying it with great attention to detail. Each area of Law has it’s “fascinating” element - Criminal Law, is apparently the most exciting, with Equity & Trusts being the most boring (hearsay), yet the Law of Tort has to be one of the most extensive and sort after by consumers and lawyers. From Trespass to the Person to Nuisance and Occupier’s Liability and everything in between, there is a lot to cover and a great deal to understand.
