Keeping your property clean
Keeping your property clean is essential as it prevents potential harming bacteria forming in the house as well as preventing pests being attracted
1. Keep your bins clean – ensure bin bags are placed in sealed bins so that foxes and birds cannot destroy and disperse rubbish all over the property and surrounding area. Also, clean your bins with hot water and soap to prevent them from smelling bad
2. Hoover your house – cleans all dust and bacteria that is brought in from the outside
3. Disinfect countertops and bathrooms – you never know what people touch throughout the day in or out of the house. Keeping these areas clean helps prevent nasty bugs or bacteria transferring anywhere in the house
4. Clean the inside of your fridge every few months – the amount of food in rotation throughout a fridge’s life leads to contamination of the shelves and the fridge as a whole. If cleaning is not undertaken this can result in a very smelly and contaminated fridge. By doing a regular deep clean you will ensure there is no cross contamination between your foodstuffs and all items will be kept fresh and good.
5. Change your sheets regularly – keeps your bed smelling fresh as well as preventing any dirt and bed bugs being brought into your house
6. Make sure your washing machine is clean as a dirty washing machine can result in your clothes not being cleaned properly and potentially your washing machine using more electricity than it needs for optimum operation.
7. Avoid leaving food on the countertops in the kitchen, especially in the heat – this can attract flies into the house as well as enticing potential pests.
8. Clean your windows of grime and moisture –where the window is sealed is a prime place for mould to grow so give it a wipe over on a regular basis to alleviate mildew growth.
9. Clean your oven – this will help prevent toxic fumes developing from the continuous burning of food that has found itself at the bottom of the oven.
10. Dust all around the house and top parts of your ceilings – this helps stop spiders spinning their web homes in readiness to live in your house
11. Cleaning your bathrooms thoroughly from limescale build-up and on sealant around sinks and bathtubs is a must as these areas are continuously moist leading to higher chances of mildew building up.
12. Ventilate your house – it brings a freshness to the house allowing cleaner air flow
13. If you have pets, make sure their hairs are cleaned off sofas and around the house (especially along skirting boards and in corners), as it can cause the house to have an increased smell of dog or cat rather than the air fresheners you may use.
14. In the case of tenants, keeping your house in pristine condition means you are more likely to get your deposit back.
