Post Lockdown- What will your style look like?

Zoom, Teams, Go to Meeting have played a huge part in our lives over the last year and have also played havoc with the way in which we present ourselves.

The beard has become a welcome addition for men who, having no access to a barber on and off for a year, decided not to shave and embrace this new look.

Lounge wear and pyjamas became the go to fashion choice since Working From Home meant that as long as pyjama bottoms and slippers didn’t feature on screen during a management meeting, the more relaxed approach was totally acceptable. Handbags, ties and shoes were shoved to the back of the wardrobe as these accessories were no longer required.

Hair colour went from the chosen artificial shades, to a combination of natural with a hint of grey and even pink. Self-care and mental health well-being, took over from make-up and that glossy look that was only needed when facing the world from a lap-top or electronic device. Was it really necessary to spritz yourself with perfume or aftershave when no one could actually smell what you were wearing?

As Lockdown begins to be lifted, businesses start to re-open, barbers, hairdressers and beauty salons become inundated with requests for appointments from people eager to revisit some kind of self-care routine. Beauty and health e-magazines and publications are taking this very seriously, providing top ten lists of beauty treatments that will be sought after from the 12th April. The UK's beauty industry was worth £27 billion as of 2020 and was ranked as the seventh largest cosmetics market in the world and the lockdown had a huge impact on beauty businesses across the whole of the UK.

Shops selling clothes are eagerly waiting to welcome customers back into their shops as online everything took over with the speed of a Formula 1 car. In early April 2020, editors of fashion magazines gave their expert guidance on how we should dress when Working From Home, fast forward 12 months and the agenda is about re-entering not only the place of work but navigating the social side of our lives that has been put on hold. The Evening Standard and GQ published the looks that we should consider as we venture out-out.

Whether you stick to the casual or opt for a more formal look, it will be refreshing to have an opportunity to dress up regardless of the occasion.
