Are Podcasts the New Must Have?
Having recently been invited by Luke St Clair to participate in a Podcast, I decided to do a little research of my own about the importance of using such diverse methods and strategies when it comes to marketing. What Luke taught me, very quickly, was that the topic and subject matter needs to be of interest to the listeners, but also that you have to be sure that the outcome is edited well to avoid any mishaps that may creep into a discussion. What I also realised is that discussing podcasts with friends and colleagues, they are super popular. And it is the under 30 demographic that is particularly keen. Easy to access, easy to listen to, motivating and fun, so much online that is of interest. Stephen, Luke and Andrew have a superb dynamic which I think makes a difference - whilst they are dealing with “serious topics”, they bounce off one another so well which is really refreshing.
Spotify, Esquire, Wired, GQ, the Evening Standard, The Independent and more have all published lists of the best podcasts from 2019 to listen to IMMEDIATELY. It’s the verbal equivalent of a Blog but without the need to focus as much; listeners can dip in and out of episodes and across such a range of diverse topics. From Ted Talks, to Oprah’s MasterClass , even Yogaland to add a bit of variety and relaxation. I have started to listen to The Chernobyl Podcast and Happy Place with Ferne Cotton - super different but riveting listening.
As with any kind of trends, they come and go, yet this is one of those trends I am happy to see gain momentum.
